ISEB Modelling Business Processes Certificate Training Course Structure

Introduction

This ISEB accredited course focuses on the investigation, modelling and improvement of business processes.

This course can be delivered with either of the following process modelling techniques used as the basis for the course:

  • BPMN (Business Process Modelling Notation)

  • Data Flow Diagramming

  • Dynamics (Dependency) Process Diagrams

The syllabus covers the use of modelling and analysis techniques within a framework for business process improvement.

An optional ISEB exam can be taken at the end of the course.This is an optional module for delegates wishing to achieve the ISEB diploma in Business Analysis.

Objectives

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • Identify and model core business processes at an organisational level
  • Model business processes at an operational level
  • Analyse activities within business processes
  • Analyse managerial and performance aspects of activities and processes

3. Modelling business processes

Overview of different modelling techniques (swim lane diagrams, activity diagrams)
Modelling notation and rules
Events that trigger business processes
The outcomes from business processes
The stakeholders involved with business processes

4. Evaluating and improving business processes

Modelling as-is business processes
Identifying problems with the as-is process
Problem analysis
Benchmarking
Identifying inappropriate workflows
Identifying inappropriate IT support
Staffing issues
Challenging the business rules
Modelling the to-be business processes
Implementing the new approach

5. Transition from business modelling to system requirement specification
