This two day course covers the syllabus and written exam for the BCS certificate in Modelling Business Processes, the Practitioner specialism module required for the BCS Diploma in Business Analysis.
It is available as a public scheduled course or an on-site course.
BCS Modelling Business Processes - Intended Audience
This course is suitable for those wanting to obtain their BCS certificate in Modelling Business Processes.
This course focuses on the investigation, modelling and improvement of business processes.
The course is delivered with BPMN (Business Process Modelling Notation) being used as the base technique.
The syllabus covers the use of modelling and analysis techniques within a framework for business process improvement.
Part of the BCS Diploma in Business Analysis
Modelling Business Processes is the Practitioner specialism module for those wanting to achieve their BCS Diploma in Business Analysis. To obtain the full Diploma candidates must also obtain the compulsory modules of Requirements Engineering and Business Analysis Practice (formally Essentials) and Knowledge-based specialism module of Organisational Context. Candidates must also take a one hour oral exam directly with the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT following successful completion of the four modular certificates.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the Business Analyst will be able to:

- Identify the events that trigger the business processes
- Identify the outcomes from the business processes
- Model the actors, tasks and work flows that comprise a business process
- Analyse the tasks within a business process
- Analyse the performance issues of individual tasks
- Identify the performance measures applied within a business process
- Identify managerial issues related to business processes
- Evaluate and improve business processes

At the end of the second day candidates will take their BCS exam in Modelling Business Processes
Case Study
A team-based case study is used throughout covering all the course modules. Delegates are encouraged to make short informal presentations at the end of each case study exercise to build their confidence.

Course Information
The duration of this course is two days. Courses run daily from 9.00 am until 5.30 pm. During the last 1 hour 15 minutes of the course candidates sit their BCS exam in Modelling Business Processes, the exam fee is included in the costs shown above. The format for the examination is a one hour written (open book) examination based on a business scenario with 15 minutes reading time.
The course is non-residential, however we can provide a list of recommended hotels close to the venue for those wanting to arrange accommodation. Tea coffee and cold drinks are available during the course, however delegates should make their own lunch arrangements.
